Project Location: Chicago, Illinois
Design Process: November 2023 - December 2023
Construction Timeline: March 2024 - June 2024
Our client purchased his River North condo in 2020 and had been gradually making updates over the years. However, it wasn’t until December 2023 that he decided to hire us for a full renovation of his two bathrooms. The spaces were outdated, and the existing design no longer suited his lifestyle.
Let's start with the primary bathroom:
We began with a basic gut renovation, removing the flooring, existing vanity, mirror, lights, and more. In the "before" pictures, you'll notice the bathroom originally included both a tub and a shower stall. Our client felt the tub was unnecessary, as he never used it. He preferred to expand the shower area and add a linen cabinet to increase storage space. Don't worry though-we kept the tub in the guest bathroom for resale purposes.
THE CONSTRUCTION PLANNING:
Since we knew exactly what to do, the space planning process was straightforward. We decided to replace the tub with a larger shower area, incorporate a linen cabinet for extra storage, reduce the wall dividing the two spaces to expand the shower, and install a longer vanity, taking full advantage of the available space.
THE DESIGN:
As noted earlier, our client had already made updates to his condo, so it was essential that the renovated bathrooms aligned with the existing aesthetic while delivering a more polished, upscale feel. He expressed a preference for a clean, white bathroom design complemented by brass accents, soothing patterns, and a neutral color palette.

LINEN CABINET DESIGN:
We completely customized the linen cabinet’s features. Since the middle wall on the cabinet side couldn't be shaved down, we had to navigate the limited width and create a solution to maximize storage space while integrating a pull-out hamper.

PRIMARY BEDROOM CLOSET DOORS:
Before we move on to the guest bathroom, I want to highlight the transformation we made to our client's closet doors. The original plain, flat-panel doors lacked design elements and gave the space a dated, unwelcoming feel. Additionally, having four separate closets made it inconvenient to open each one, so we opted to unify both sides for a more streamlined and functional design.

THE DEMO
We removed the center wall to extend the closet space, allowing for a more open feel and better flexibility for future closet organization and design.

THE DESIGN
We decided on custom glass sliding doors for the closet. This sliding configuration provided full, easy access to the entire closet space without any hassle.

THE RESULT
This is a non-professional snap shot, but look how good the area turned out! The contemporary design truly elevated the closet area.
Moving on to the Guest Bathroom:
The guest bathroom mirrored the primary bath with its dark cherry wood cabinets and black countertop, embodying a mid-2000s aesthetic. The horizontal exposed bulbs, plain mirror, floor tile, and shower wall tile were begging for an upgrade.
THE DESIGN
Similar to the primary bathroom, we opted for a clean, neutral color palette. We upgraded the vanity to a sleeker design and added a recessed medicine cabinet for a modern touch and extra storage. New hardware and glossy ceramic subway tiles completed the fresh, updated look.
THE RESULTS
When I say the results speak for themselves, they really do speak for themselves.
THE PRIMARY BATHROOM
This bathroom embodies the perfect example of a crisp and clean bath oasis.
GUEST BATHROOM
While the guest bathroom is neutral and bright, it still comes across as warm and soothing. The materials all work together seamless, and extending the shower wall tile to the ceiling further elevates the shower area.
SUMMARY:
The renovation of our client's River North condo brought a fresh, modern touch to both bathrooms and the primary bedroom closet. By removing outdated elements and introducing sleek, contemporary designs, we transformed the spaces into functional, stylish areas that perfectly match our client's lifestyle. It took a team to get to the end and couldn't be more grateful for our client for allowing us to work our magic. Check out our full gallery here.
